Review: PUTREFY – “Knelt Before The Sarcophagus Of Humanity” Posted: 20/01/2015 by John O'Brien

It’s been a long five year wait between PUTREFY‘s last album, “One Nation Under Gore”, and this latest offering, “Knelt Before The Sarcophagus Of Huminty”. But it was well worth the wait!

putrefy_Knelt_Before_The_Sarcophagus_of_Humanity_2014As Soon as that eerie intro to ‘Wading Through Human Blood’ kicks in you get the feeling something sick and brutal is about to go down. And the band certainly do not disappoint. Combining the brutality of their two previous albums with an old school vibe reminiscent of material off their early demos.

There’s no padding on this album as the band rely solely on their musical ability, having got rid of the gore/horror movie samples that were very prevalent on previous releases. Which, in this reviewers opinion, adds more depth to the music. There are a lot of killer tracks on this album but stand outs include ‘Wading Through Human Blood’, ‘Smashed Down With Iron’ and ‘Bring Out Your Dead’. Not to say that the other album tracks are bad or weak… far from it! This is quality Brutal Death Metal with an Old School Vibe and is well worth a Listen.

Unfortunately for PUTREFY, literally just as the album was about to be released, three of it’s four members up and left the band to focus on their other project, ONCOLOGY, leaving drummer and founding member Jason McLaughlin as the sole remaining member. Where the band will go from here, who knows! But McLaughlin has stated that PUTREFY will continue…
