20161206_Geoff_TateMulti-platinum selling, Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Geoff Tate comes to Cork as part of his international Storyteller Tour to perform an intimate gig to raise funds exclusively for Music Generation Cork City at the Crane Lane Theatre, on Tuesday December 6.

Original singer with the the band Queensrÿche, which he fronted for over 30 years, Geoff has recorded 17 studio albums and several live albums with Queensrÿche, receiving four Grammy nominations and having their music used in three feature films. He has sold over 25 million albums worldwide and performed in over 62 countries.

Geoff is well known for expertly crafted lyrics, combining social consciousness with high-energy, melodically complex music. Forming Operation Mindcrime in 2014, Geoff’s latest band has become internationally recognised as the “thinking man’s metal band”. On this tour, he will include in his touring band, a mix of US and Irish musicians. Operation Mindcrime features guitars, mandolin, cello, saxophone, violin and multiple percussion instruments, to produce a high energy acoustic version of some of heavy metal’s most recognised songs. The Storyteller Tour will highlight songs from all 17 albums throughout his 35 year career with Queensrÿche.

Special guests on the night are Cork-based duo Fire and Water and hard rock singer/songwriter, Mark Daly. Recently back from a European and American tour, where they performed over 30 shows in 18 countries, Fire and Water are joined by former front man of acclaimed rock group, The Voodoos, Mark Daly. The Voodoos performed at the 2011 MTV EMAs and Mark recently released his debut solo EP, The Heart’s Reminder.

This special fundraising event is in support of Music Generation Cork City Mahon Community Rock Hub. An exciting new initiative presented by Music Generation Cork City in partnership with Cork Academy of Music, the Mahon Community Rock Hub enables children and teenagers in Mahon the opportunity to learn and create music in a socially-inclusive community setting.

Tickets for this event are €20 and are available through www.eventbrite.ie, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to Music Generation Cork City.

Geoff Tate and his band Operation Mindcrime play a further two dates in Ireland, when they perform The Voodoo Lounge in Dublin on December 22 and The Empire in Belfast on December 23.


Music Generation Cork City (MGCC) is a music education programme that works in partnership with community-based musicians and music organisations to provide performance music education and participation for children and young people in Cork City. In partnership with community music education organisations, socially-inclusive performance music education programmes are made available in the places where children live, play, and go to school, bringing opportunities for music-making into the heart of Cork’s communities. There are currently over 2000 children and teenagerslearning to play, sing and create music in Music Generation Cork City programmes.

MGCC is part of Music Generation, Ireland’s national performance music education programme, initiated by Music Network, co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds and The Department of Education and Skills and Local Music Education Partnerships.
