QED Hard Rock / Co. Dublin

Dublin AOR hard rock band QED from the late 1980’s. Featuring Dave King (STILWOOD, FASTWAY, KATMANDU, FLOGGING MOLLY) on vocals, Shane Carroll on guitar/keys, Paul Reid on bass and Alan O’Connor on drums.

This line-up is the same line-up that played previously as the band STILWOOD. But King went on to join FASTWAY with ‘Fast’ Eddie Clarke (MOTORHEAD) and Pete Way (UFO, OZZY OSBOURNE). Eventually, all the other STILWOOD members would be recruited to join FASTWAY alongside Clarke and King and go on the record the bands “Waiting for the Roar” (1985) and “Trick or Treat – Original Soundtrack” (1986) albums before disbanding, with King and the other former STILWOOD members forming the short-lived QED back in Dublin. QED would go on to release only one 7″ single called “The Power To Love” around 1988.

King then got a call from David Geffen and John Kalodner to come to the United States to head up a heavy metal “supergroup” called KATMANDU, featuring Mandy Meyer from KROKUS on guitars. KATMANDU released one self-titled album and had a couple of minor hits. Dave King would then go on to form and front the widely successful Los Angeles-based Celtic punk band FLOGGING MOLLY, where he continues to this day.
