GO ON THE LADS: Irish Bands To Hit Bloodstock 2016… Posted: 10/08/2016 by John O'Brien

Bloodstock_2016_Irish_Bands_The annual Bloodstock Open Air Festival takes place at Catton Park, Derbyshire on 11th-14th August 2016. And this coming weekend sees an array of no less than six of our best and brightest sparks from both sides of the border making their way across the Irish Sea to invade the ‘Old Enemy’ on their own turf.

PSYKOSIS…

These Dublin thrashers PSYKOSIS have definitely earned their spot on the Sophie Lancaster Stage. Former Bloodstock M2TM winners, the band have set themselves up as a must see live act. High energy live performances, fast paced action on stage and riffs to boot with memorable hooks and crowd sing-a-longs, not to forget the all important lashings of tongue-in-cheek, and often childish, humour.

Psykosis

The thrash outfit hail from Dublin, Ireland and started in 2008 after a booze fuelled binge and desire to inject some good fun into the rich but sombre Irish metal scene. The band began honing their sound on the stages of Dublin and progressed to headliner gigs and support slots with internationally recognised acts such as D.R.I., Sacred Reich,Evile, Blaze Bayley and Gama Bomb. The band got their first break in mainland UK when they were invited to Bloodstock Open Air in the summer of 2014. Their performance has gone down in the history books of the festival as during their set PSYKOSIS and their crew threw out hundreds of bottles of home brew just prior to performing the song “Beach Party”, a song which the band were more than happy to share their inflatable beach toys with the appreciative crowd for. From that moment the band have been inviting folk all across the UK to their fun filled shows as well as having set sail and ventured to far flung places (from little old Ireland at least) such as Metal Days in Slovenia and more.

They say time flies when you’re having fun, and that is indeed the case with PSYKOSIS because after eight years in existence the band have only recently hit the studio with producer Steven Rats Rahaman and recorded their debut album, a collection of songs which have already gotten a good thrashing on the live circuit and has garnered an enthusiastic audience seal of approval.

Rabid Bitch Of The North

RABID BITCH OF THE NORTH…

A band who have carved their own path by gigging relentlessly, churning out high-octane classic metal in various formats and spreading ‘Heavy Metal Rabies’ wherever they go. RBOTN are a three piece heavy metal band from Belfast Northern Ireland. They are very much inspired by traditional heavy metal bands and associate themselves with the NWOBHM and it’s descendants. They like to play fast, hard, heavy and with fury!
RBOTN have toured and played with a long list of Metal legends including Angel Witch, Raven, Diamond Head, Blitzkrieg, Hell, Portrait, Tim Ripper Owens, Xentrix, Pagan Altar, Primordial, Solstice, Dark Forest, and Argus. As well as having played Bloodstock 2014 and several Siege of Limerick festivals.

Ten Ton Slug

TEN TON SLUG…

Based in Galway and originally from the depths of Connemara in the west of Ireland, TEN TON SLUG has ingested 5 humans and leaves a trail of sludge/groove metal in its wake. Some say it came from the bog, others claim it originated in the mountains, what is known for sure is that its first victims were Sean and Micheal Sullivan. Gigging started in early 2014 with former bassist Ragas, who escaped in 2015. New bassist Eoghain Wynne joined in 2015 around the time vocals were appointed to lung slug Ronán Ó ‘hArrachtáin.
TEN TON SLUG released a well received two-track live demo “Live at the Oaks” in September 2015, and has gigged extensively leaving its sludgy trail around Ireland since, most notably winning the Metal 2 the Masses Ireland competition in May 2016, securing a slot on the New Blood Stage at Bloodstock Festival 2016 in the UK. The Slug is hungry. The Slug shows no mercy.

Two Tales Of Woe

TWO TALES OF WOE…

TWO TALES OF WOE are a hard-working heavy metal band based in Dublin. Formed in 2005, the group take inspiration from a number of genres ranging from Doom and Sludge(CROWBAR, CATHEDRAL, DOWN, BLACK SABBATH) to Classic Rock/Metal(AC/DC,ZZ TOP, SLAYER, MASTODON) down tuned and beefed up! TTOW blend a healthy dose of all these influences in equal amounts.
You can download our first album “A Conversation With Death” for free on their Soundcloud page. And they have also recently released their latest single “Burning Lands” in the build up to their Bloodstock appearance, where they co-headline the . The band are currently in the writing process of our upcoming EP which will be released later this year.

The Crawling

THE CRAWLING…

THE CRAWLING was born following a few failed attempts at getting a couple of ageing metal heads into the same room to play some death metal. Finally, towards the close of 2014, the band settled on a solid line up.

The music created is a result of a trio of music fans that have enjoyed, and participated, in the local music scene for decades. Creator Stuart hailed from 90’s death metal legends Severance, Andy fronted Honey For Christ for 14 years, and Gary Beattie is still blasting for Zombified. The collaboration has resulted in a heavy, slow-death ensemble, forged against a back drop of misery and contempt for the world that surrounds us.

Zlatanera

ZLATANERA…

ZLATANERA was formed in June 2012 by ex members of Residual Effect, Stand Up Guy, No Grace Given and Interrogate. Musical tastes within the band are extremely varied, however, the members have found common ground in their love of riffs, rock, beer and songs about the Devil. It’s all about the riffs and groove in Zlatanera!

Their live shows are an immersive experience with pure rock, groove and a hint of evil being the order of the day. Attend a ZLATANERA gig and you will not be disappointed.
